Pete Pancrazi is one of our favorite jazz musicians, here in the Phoenix area. His latest CD, samples shown below, uses one of our Nylon string OM guitars on three songs, Autumn Leaves, Black Orpheus and Corcovado. Here is a great video of Pete playing his Phoenix Guitar Company 17 archtop at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival.
Here is one of our very good friends, and a great player, local to the Phoenix area, Chris Champion. Chris is playing his Baby Phoenix with bass player Steve Laspina, doing the song “Falling Grace.” The song was recorded to show off the bass, but we think Chris did an exceptional job on the guitar also.
Gary is a very good friend, and a terrific player. I heard his arrangement of “Amazing Grace”, and knew it would be perfect to demo one of our acoustic guitars. Gary agreed to play it, and I think you’ll be impressed with his playing (as well as the sound of the guitar). The guitar is a Grand Concert model, with Madagascar Rosewood sides and back, and an Englemann spruce top. We think Gary did a great job of showing it off.
This song is called “Lead the Way”, and was written by Pete Panacrazi. I heard him do this song at one of his gigs, and immediately asked him if he’d be willing to record if for me,, and he was very nice to agree. He is playing his 17″ Phoenix archtop, which I think sounds fantastic. It has a built in pickup by Kent Armstrong, and along with the German spruce top and flame maple sides and back, it has developed a better and better sound as time has passed.
Here again is Pete Pancrazi, this time playing a nylon string OM on another of his original songs titled “Turn to Me.” This guitar is about 15 years old, with a cedar top, and Brazilian rosewood sides and back. Its voice has really opened up over the years, and really is a pleasure to play. I love the way Pete does this song, and I hope you enjoy it too.
