Quarterly Newsletter: Second Quarter '08
What’s New:
If you haven’t checked our website in awhile, please keep an eye on it. George has been working hard on keeping it up to date. We are also looking to add some new features that we hope all of you will find interesting and informative. (www.phoenixguitarco.com)
In The News:
Our second classical guitar has turned out even better than our first, and has inspired us to build a third in which we will incorporate a raised fingerboard option. Once we work out the kinks of the raised fingerboard this will be an available option for all of our customers who love the classical guitar.
Because we have been very busy with orders and repairs, the introduction of the “Phoenix 15” has been further delayed. George and I are doing our best to squeeze it back into our busy schedule, and hope to have it done in the late July early August time frame. We are also looking to add a 16” archtop guitar to our currently available models. This will give us a great line up of Archtop guitars in addition to our wonderful acoustic lineup which currently includes the Nylon String- OM, Classical, 000 and Grand Concert.
Check out our new ad in the latest issues of Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Premier Guitar Magazine, and Just Jazz Guitar Magazine. We are focusing our attention on our Nylon String OM, which we introduced in 1994. Since that time, a lot of shops have followed suit, and make something similar, but it was our innovation back 14 years ago that started it all.
If you do not see an option or style of guitar in our current list, don’t worry, we are still Arizona’s best custom guitar shop and are always willing to work with our customers in order to build their perfect guitar.
We just got in a new Jazzkat amplifier, the Tomkat—which is a tube amp. This amp is amazing, not only for its warm beautiful sound, but it has 125 watts of power, and weighs only 20 pounds. The tube option can be switched in and out, with a switch on the front of the cabinet. Come by and check it out. We are the Arizona distributor for Jazzkat.
Guitar making class news!!!
Weekend warrior classes:
Our March 2008 class has just finished and all of the guitars were spectacular. Not only were they beautiful works of art, but they sounded great. It is very exciting to hear such great sounding guitars when they have only had strings on for less than a day. This was an unusual class in that we had seven students instead of the normal maximum of six. In this class, we had 4 grand concert cutaways (1 maple, 3 indian rosewood), 2 OM cutaways, with 3 piece backs (mahogany), and we added a new guitar to our class options, a 12 fret 000—(indian rosewood), which came out absolutely beautiful.
The next weekend warrior guitar making class will be starting in October. We are currently going down the waiting list to see who will be able to take this class. If you would like to have your name added to the waiting list please call 480-664-6315, or send email to phoenixguitarco@gmail.com, or stop by our shop which is located in the Scottsdale Airpark at 7302 E. Helm Dr. # 2005, Scottsdale AZ, 85260. Weekend warrior classes are held twice a year, October through February and March through June.
One on one / One on two classes:
We currently have a One on Two class scheduled for the mid July through end of August. The two students will be building Nylon string OM’s.
We also tentatively have a One on Two class scheduled for the October/November timeframe in which the students will be building Classical guitars.
For those of you who would like to build an archtop guitar, this is only available as a one on one/one on two class. The sizes which can currently be built are the 17” “Phoenix” and the 14” “Baby Phoenix” models. Please call, send email or stop by the shop for more information if you are interested.
The one on one/one on two classes are currently not a regularly scheduled event. We do have a waiting list for those who are interested in this type of class, and the dates of a particular session are worked out with each student individually at this time. Keep an eye on the newsletter and/or the website for any changes in the way these classes will be scheduled in the future. In the mean time, if you are interested in getting on the waiting list for this type of class or the weekend warrior class, please call 480-664-6315, send email to phoenixguitarco@gmail.com, or stop by our shop which is located in the Scottsdale Airpark at 7302 E. Helm Dr. # 2005, Scottsdale AZ, 85260.
